San Antonio Author Featured in New Dog Book
Minneapolis, Minnesota, November 1, 2008
– San Antonio’s Lt. Col. Christopher P. Coppola, USAF, pediatric surgeon, has
served in two deployments to Iraq at the Air Force Theater Hospital in Balad
and now, at Lackland Air Force Base. He has experienced, firsthand, the courage
and loyalty of German shepherds and other breeds who are trained to be military
dogs, protecting and saving the lives of soldiers. Lt. Col Coppola says, “One
of my most memorable moments was seeing an injured canine team lying
side-by-side on stretchers at a war zone hospital.” The story
of Lt. Col Coppola’s dogs of war experiences is featured in a
new book, Angel Dogs with a Mission: Divine Messengers in Service to All
Life by authors, Allen and Linda Anderson (New World Library, October 1,
2008). The book is a collection of twenty true stories about dogs who found
their purpose in life and gave without expecting a return.
Lt. Col.
Coppola raises funds for the Fisher House, an organization that provides a home
away from home for family members of injured veterans. He publishes regularly
on his blog, www.MadeaDifference.blogspot.com.
He lives in Texas with his wife and three sons, a standard poodle, Loki, and a
sixteen-year-old cat, Cosmo.
Allen
and Linda Anderson are founders of the Angel Animals Network
(www.angelanimals.net), inspirational speakers, clergy members, and authors of
the award-winning Rescued: Saving Animals from Disaster as well as nine
other books in the popular Angel Animals series. Marc Bekoff, PhD, professor
emeritus of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Colorado,
Boulder, wrote in the foreword for Angel Dogs with a Mission: “This book will
change your life and the lives of those with whom you share it.”
As
with the hugely popular Marley & Me, dog lovers will be inspired and
entertained by the dramatic human-and-dog journeys in this new book. The
amazing stories provide laughter, proof that miracles are possible, and tears
-- the good kind.
Amelia
Kinkade, author of Straight from the Horses Mouth, says, “This book is a
tribute to the fact that many of our most effective doctors, nurses,
therapists, police officers, emotional counselors, rescue workers, and
spiritual teachers have four legs instead of two.”
