Geauga County Sheriff Featured in New Dog Book
Minneapolis, Minnesota, November 1, 2008
– Geauga County’s Sheriff Dan McClelland has received much recognition along
with his Chihuahua-rat terrier, Midge, a Guinness World Record holder as the
smallest police dog. Sheriff McClelland says, “Midge inspires school
children to never let tiny size stop them from following their dreams.” The
story of how Sheriff McClelland trained his K-9 to sniff narcotics and serve on
the police force is featured in a new book, Angel Dogs with a
Mission: Divine Messengers in Service to All Life by authors, Allen and
Linda Anderson (New World Library, October 1, 2008). The book is a collection
of twenty true stories about dogs who found their purpose in life and gave
without expecting a return.
Sheriff
McClelland shares his home in Geauga County with his wife, Midge, and the other
family dog, Buffy. When asked how Midge, who gets fan letters from around the
world, handles all the publicity of having articles about her in national news
magazines in the United States and China, he says, “She can’t read, and I don’t
let her watch a lot of TV.”
Allen
and Linda Anderson are founders of the Angel Animals Network
(www.angelanimals.net), inspirational speakers, clergy members, and authors of
the award-winning Rescued: Saving Animals from Disaster as well as nine
other books in the popular Angel Animals series. Marc Bekoff, PhD, professor
emeritus of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Colorado,
Boulder, wrote in the foreword for Angel Dogs with a Mission: “This book will
change your life and the lives of those with whom you share it.”
As
with the hugely popular Marley & Me, dog lovers will be inspired and
entertained by the dramatic human-and-dog journeys in this new book. The
amazing stories provide laughter, proof that miracles are possible, and tears
-- the good kind.
Amelia
Kinkade, author of Straight from the Horses Mouth, says, “This book is a
tribute to the fact that many of our most effective doctors, nurses, therapists,
police officers, emotional counselors, rescue workers, and spiritual teachers
have four legs instead of two.”
