Basic Animal Rescue Training is a 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization run by volunteers in the veterinary profession and supported by
community donations.
BART’s
mission is to empower firefighters and other emergency personnel with the
training, knowledge and equipment necessary to safely and effectively address
the needs of animals encountered in emergency situations, in order to help
preserve human health, safety and well being. BART offers classes to first
responders (firefighters, police, paramedics and EMTs) teaching restraint and
handling of pets, horses and livestock, as well as patient assessment/first aid
and CPR for companion animals. The Fire/EMS departments undergoing training
receive an emergency medical kit that contains all the materials and supplies
covered in the small animal course. BART has trained and equipped over 3,000
first responder personnel in Minnesota since December of 2004.

The Minnesota Valley Humane Society Story
Website: www.mvhspets.org
Our mission is to prevent and alleviate animal suffering through shelter, adoption, education, collaboration, and community outreach; and to strengthen the relationship between people and companion animals.
The Minnesota Valley Humane Society has been serving the Greater South Metro Area since 1981. Founded by volunteers who fostered animals in their homes, they eventually raised money to purchase a shelter in 1991. MVHS currently resides in the old Burnsville City Hall, Police and Fire Station building. Since then we have been working hard to improve the lives of animals and people in our service area.
Since 1991, we have found homes for over 45,000 animals. We have no time limits for animals awaiting adoption. It is our policy to shelter and place as many animals as possible. We are proud to have one of the highest adoption rates in the country!
We believe education is important to promote healthy relationships between people and animals. We offer classes for new and struggling pet parents as well as our innovative Canine U Dog Training and offer many Humane Education programs for children and adults.

The Pet Project
Website: www.thepetprojectmn.org/
Mission:
The Pet Project helps people keep their pets by providing pet food and basic supplies to those who are struggling.
The Pet Project also provides connections to basic veterinary care and information on finding pet-friendly housing.
Why We Do It:
Good pet owners have deep connections with their pets. Anyone who's ever lived with an animal knows that they give us much more than they could ever take. We would really like to change the way the world thinks about relationships with pets and the role they play in our lives. The lessons of empathy, compassion, and responsibility that our pets can teach us shouldn't have to be lost due to poverty
or unexpected life circumstances.
Equal to the human experience of that loss is what the pet is losing. None of these sweet creatures should have to lose a loving home. Shelters are over-crowded and underfunded. Rescue groups are bombarded with phone calls. Let's leave them to do what they do best -- take in unwanted, abused, and neglected animals. Let's support them by not asking them to take in cherished pets. Together, those of
us who love and get love from our pets can help others enjoy the same experience. Together, we can foster hope, confidence, and good health for families and their pets.
Who We Are:
We believe that the way we treat the least fortunate among us, those with the quietest voices, those with the least power, and those who reach their hands out for help is what defines us as a society. We are people who find great courage in unexpected places, epiphanies in fleeting moments, and inspiration in the darkness. We believe that if you have more, you share it; if you know more, you teach
it; if you have love, you give it.
