Fredericksburg Author Featured in New Dog Book
Minneapolis, Minnesota, November 1, 2008
– Fredericksburg’s Di Thompson rescued Angel, a bedraggled and abused
puppy, who knew with unerring wisdom which people and animals needed her
healing presence when Angel went with Thompson to visit patients in a
rehabilitation facility. Thompson says, “Angel caused those who had not spoken
to speak again. She also became the guide dog for our blind Siberian husky.”
The story of how Thompson, a freelance graphic artist, and Angel became a
healing team was the winner of the 2007 Angel Animals Network contest and
is featured in a new book, Angel Dogs with a Mission: Divine Messengers in
Service to All Life by authors, Allen and Linda Anderson (New World
Library, October 1, 2008). The book is a collection of twenty true stories
about dogs who found their purpose in life and gave without expecting a return.
Thompson
shares her home in Fredericksburg with her husband, Dan, a facilities manager
for the Library of Congress at the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center,
and two rescued papillons, Zip and Little Bit, and Annabel, a Manx cat adopted
from the local SPCA. Thompson sings with her church choir and community chorus
and is a soloist at weddings and other functions.
Allen
and Linda Anderson are founders of the Angel Animals Network
(www.angelanimals.net), inspirational speakers, clergy members, and authors of
the award-winning Rescued: Saving Animals from Disaster as well as nine
other books in the popular Angel Animals series. Marc Bekoff, PhD, professor
emeritus of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Colorado,
Boulder, wrote in the foreword for Angel Dogs with a Mission: “This book will
change your life and the lives of those with whom you share it.”
As
with the hugely popular Marley & Me, dog lovers will be inspired and
entertained by the dramatic human-and-dog journeys in this new book. The
amazing stories provide laughter, proof that miracles are possible, and tears
-- the good kind.
Amelia
Kinkade, author of Straight from the Horses Mouth, says, “This book is a
tribute to the fact that many of our most effective doctors, nurses,
therapists, police officers, emotional counselors, rescue workers, and
spiritual teachers have four legs instead of two.”
