Cherryville, North Carolina Authors Featured in New Dog Book
Minneapolis, Minnesota, November 4, 2008
– Cherryville’s Anna and Neman Bates have honored the heroism of their gangly,
fun-loving Great Dane, Scooby-Doo. Anna Bates says, “Scooby earned his angel wings
by saving our lives when an early morning fire raged through our home.” The story
of Scooby-Doo’s courage and intelligence while he protected the Bates family
and became the best friend of their three-year-old Zen is
featured in a new book, Angel Dogs with a Mission: Divine Messengers in
Service to All Life by authors, Allen and Linda Anderson (New World
Library, October 1, 2008). The book is a collection of twenty true stories
about dogs who found their purpose in life and gave without expecting a return.
Anna Bates
is a registered dermatology nurse, and Neman Bates is a property developer who
runs his own company that build concrete swimming pools. They have been married
for seven years.
Allen
and Linda Anderson are founders of the Angel Animals Network
(www.angelanimals.net), inspirational speakers, clergy members, and authors of
the award-winning Rescued: Saving Animals from Disaster as well as nine
other books in the popular Angel Animals series.
Marc
Bekoff, PhD, professor emeritus of ecology and evolutionary biology at the
University of Colorado, Boulder, wrote in the foreword for Angel Dogs with a
Mission: “This book will change your life and the lives of those with whom you
share it.”
As
with the hugely popular Marley & Me, dog lovers will be inspired and
entertained by the dramatic human-and-dog journeys in this new book. The
amazing stories provide laughter, proof that miracles are possible, and tears
-- the good kind.
Amelia
Kinkade, author of Straight from the Horses Mouth, says, “This book is a
tribute to the fact that many of our most effective doctors, nurses,
therapists, police officers, emotional counselors, rescue workers, and
spiritual teachers have four legs instead of two.”
